I am above the LAW!!!
God Bless Mac and Chee and Hot Dogs

So, I’m here on campus during an extended weekend break-thing and at the last minute I found out that they wouldn’t be serving ANY food during the FIVE day break. Normally, when faced with this type of opposition, I would take home extra food from the cafeteria - the cooks actually encourage this! You could take some cold sandwiches, or a bunch of granola bars, or some fruit. They even have a bunch of “single-serving” bags of chips they want you to take to your dorm.

But for some reason, I was completely oblivious to the fact that they wouldn’t be serving any food during the FIVE day break until after the break started. Therefore, I have to find food for the weekend. CHEAP food. The kind of food that doesn’t involve spending any money on. ANY money.

My Mom, bless her heart, sent me some Easy-mac a few weeks ago in a package that had all sorts of hearts and love notes on, and in it.

When I was dating a girl from Winterset (we’ll call her “Winterset” to protect the innocent = ME!) we tried to make Easy-mac a few times. It never turned out that great. In fact - at the time - I would have elected to rename the product, because it wasn’t that easy. The biggest thing that we couldn’t figure out was the LACK of milk, and butter. We were so accustomed to making the good ‘ol fashioned Mac and Chee, that we couldn’t comprehend this new wave of the future!

In an attempt to find something to eat this weekend I came upon my stash of Easy-mac, and with not much trouble at all I made quite a delicious batch of Mac and Chee. It lacked but one quality: HOT DOGS! God Bless Mac and Chee and Hot Dogs.

Another side note is that almost every time I make a batch of Mac and Chee, I remember my old RA, Jason Fry. One time he told me that his father was allergic to MSG, so his mom would make foods that didn’t include any MSG. They were never allowed to have the packaged version of Mac and Chee. Could you imagine that? Living in a country where you can have Mac and Chee, and you DON’T! I want to cry thinking about that.

Shout out to the MSG community. The magic of that powder is amazing.
